POSITION SUMMARY

This part time position uses knowledge of planting techniques and farm operations to tend to crops from planting to harvesting. Daily duties include basic farm work, operation of farm machinery, monitoring of weather conditions, pests and weeds to communicate with the Head Farmer and take proactive and/or remedial action. This position is physically-demanding and requires working outdoors in the elements.

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

· Proven experience in farm work or related field.

· Familiarity with planting techniques, crop rotation, and harvesting methods.

· Proficiency in operating farm machinery such as tractors, plows, and irrigation systems.

· Knowledge of pest, disease, and weed control measures.

· Ability to adapt to changing weather conditions and unforeseen challenges.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks.

Position Functions and Duties

• Perform physically demanding farm work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Utilize knowledge of planting techniques, crop rotation, and harvesting methods to contribute to farm operations.
• Operate farm machinery such as tractors, plows, and irrigation systems with proficiency and caution.
• Implement pest, disease, and weed control measures to ensure healthy crop growth.
• Monitor weather patterns and adjust work schedules accordingly.
• Address unexpected challenges on the farm with quick thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborate effectively with other farm workers and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Ensure accurate planting, fertilizing, and irrigation practices are followed.
• Adhere to safety protocols when handling machinery and chemicals to prevent accidents.
• Maintain farm buildings and perform necessary repairs as needed.
• Tend crops by eliminating weeds and applying pesticides in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Perform manual tasks as required, demonstrating manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Communicate effectively and work as part of a team with other Farm Hands.
• Comfortably perform repetitive tasks essential to farm operations

Working Conditions

Most of the work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions. Work performed outdoors requires physical demands like lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time. You will perform repetitive tasks like planting, weeding, and harvesting. Must handle agricultural substances with safety precautions.
