In response to the newly expanded Title IX regulations, increased Title VI enforcement, new digital accessibility requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other related federal compliance mandates, the Office of Compliance is conducting a search for an Assistant Director of Investigations. This is a new leadership role in the Office of Compliance and reports to the Associate Director of Civil Rights Compliance & Title IX Coordinator. The Assistant Director of Investigations will have direct oversight and supervision of the investigative function of the Office of Compliance, which currently includes protected-class discrimination investigations, including sexual misconduct, disability accommodation related investigations, and complaints of violations of UW-Madison's Hostile & Intimidating Behavior Policy. The Assistant Director will supervise approximately 7 investigators, accepting, approving and assigning investigations, and ensuring files are up to date. The Assistant Director will also review and approve Notice of Investigations, Initial Investigative Reports and Final Investigative Reports, and conduct overflow investigations as necessary. To facilitate institutional consistency, the Assistant Director will oversee training of external investigators as needed, and maintain templates and general documents for internal and broader institutional investigative use. This role also serves as the institutional contact for matters involving Office of Compliance-managed investigations, including pre- and post-investigation consultation with units navigating related concerns. Additionally, the Assistant Director will serve as deputy to the Associate Director, supporting the unit and engaging in projects and duties as assigned.Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
