Job Description
Summary The Preschool intern supports the children, Teacher's Assistant, and Teacher, as well as the Assistant Director and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children as they work in community to meet and exceed developmental milestones. Interns support the class in the implementation of the A Beka Book and supplemental materials designed to enhance the children's holistic development. This position requires a positive attitude, flexibility, innovation, creativity, and an ability to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment.
The Intern directly engages with children on their level and documents children?s progress, and relays that information back to their teammates, parents and staff through the use of BrightWheel and face-to-face engagements. Interns are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment, and implementing a child-centered approach through curricula, as children play, learn, and grow. Upholding all Great Beginnings Early Learning Center policies, professionalism, and State Regulations is essential.
Duties - Assist in the implementation of curriculum, child engagement, and educational activities.
- Maintaining a clean, welcoming environment and decorating the classroom/collecting materials.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through the BrightWheel App, verbal and written communications, and progress reports.
- Following all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain personal professional development through continuing education credits provided by the center or independently as approved and according to the Licensing Standards and center policies.
- Maintaining a positive attitude and understanding of child development.
Requirements - Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- High energy.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- An understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
Nice To Haves - Experience with the A Beka Book Curriculum.
- Experience with the BrightWheel App.
- Medical Administration Training (MAT) Certificate.
- Daily Health Observation (DHO)
- CDA, 90 clock hours, 12 university credits in a child related field, AA in Early Childhood Education, B.A. in a child related field.
Benefits - PT flexible scheduled and days (minimum of 3 hours a week needed)
- FT (Monday-Friday between the hours of 7am-6pm)
