Job Description Summary
Under general direction from the supervisor, this position coordinates glasswash operations, equipment maintenance, inventory management, collection/wash/return, per-piece accounting, reporting, and physical/logical reconciliation. The Glasswash Coordinator handles and cleans dirty laboratory glassware/plasticware and performs the appropriate cleaning services required. This individual performs machine washing, handwashing, dry sterilizing, autoclaving, plugging and oven and air-drying of glassware/plasticware. The position performs the general responsibilities, including those listed below, but supervisor may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements. Responsible for tasks in inventory management (consumables, samples, etc.) and accurate inventory control, this position processes requests leading to inventory movement on- and off-site, and they fulfill customer metric reporting. While maintaining communication with the customer, the Glasswash Coordinator performs inventory-management-related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead inventory, conducts cycle counting, takes periodic and ad hoc physical inventories, and provides regular required and relevant reporting. This position assures that members of the SCTR PSOM community receive the highest quality glasswash services and customer care. The job requires walking, standing, use of standard tools, lifting, and the ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted. The Glasswash Coordinator must be physically able to perform all functions of this position.

Job Description
  • Education: Associate's degree required and 3 to 5 years relevant work experience, or equivalent combination
  • Experience with electronic scanning tracking systems administration, operation, and reporting
  • Experience with metric and variance reporting
  • Excellent organizational abilities, and oral and written communications skills. Ability to deal effectively with diverse constituencies. Ability to work effectively under constantly changing deadlines and priorities. Ability to work independently. Excellent logistics, customer service, and coordination skills
  • Advanced knowledge of PC using MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Oracle Calendar, and Email
  • Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, and exercise discretion in working with confidential and sensitive matters. Ability to exercise judgment based on established policies and practices. Working knowledge of office standards and procedures. Ability to manage time well and meet regular deadlines. Must not be bothered by unpleasant odors

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Perelman School of Medicine is a multi-building research and teaching complex with emphasis on biomedical research. As such, and to ensure successful fulfillment of its mission (research and education), the School Community requires a much higher level of support service delivery than usually experienced in a typical academic environment. Problems that would be mere annoyances in some facilities have the potential of destroying thousands of dollars and months or years of often-irreplaceable work. The Department of Space Planning & Operations is responsible for coordinating and assuring uninterrupted delivery of the necessary utility and other support services.
