Health Information Specalist/Medical Records – La Amistad Behavioral Health Services

Minutes away from Orlando, La Amistad Behavioral Health Services is set in quiet, residential areas in Maitland and Winter Park, Florida. Health Information Specalist /Medical Records

Under the supervision of the HIM Director, performs clerical duties utilizing computer and data entry skills.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Maintains accurate order of incomplete & complete patient charts including appropriately processing loose filing for patients
  • Assembling/preparing/analyzing medical records and record breakdown, completes audits on active and completed charts
  • Ensures all Physician Orders and Assessments are signed in a timely manner
  • Answers telephone inquiries correspondence and follows up timely
  • Provides records for release of information requests in house and from storage, analyzes all release of information requests in detail to ensure legal processing requirements
  • Assists in tracking/editing of dictations and transcription of all reports
  • Interacts with internal and external customers in accordance with all departmental and facility policies
Qualifications

Education : High School Graduate required. Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Record Information preferred.

Experience : Minimum of one year office/customer service experience required. Two (2) years' experience in Medical Records/Health Information Management preferred.

Skills: Ability to pay attention to detail, excellent organization skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology, filing systems, and basic health information department function to include word processing software and dictation system.

Physical Requirements : Work of medium demand requiring extensive sitting, standing, bending, lifting and walking. Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds.

Other: performs other duties as may be assigned by Director of HIM or Chief Executive Officer.
