PAY AND BENEFITS

Hourly Pay Range: $44.008292 - $55.853432

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

Clackamas County Health Centers - Behavioral Health Clinics has an opportunity for a full time Psychiatric Nurse (Classified as a Community Health Nurse) to provide triage, evaluations and other services to individuals with mental health and substance abuse disorders primarily servicing Medicaid, Medicare, and medically uninsured populations.

The Psychiatric Nurse in this position will work directly with the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatrists to support psychiatric treatment plans, evaluations, and medication management. Due to the work environment within Clackamas County's Behavioral Health clinics the Psychiatric Nurse in this position must be registered as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) in Oregon. Psychiatric Nurses are responsible for collecting information and evaluating clients to prepare them for working with prescribers, ongoing management of efficient patient flow, care coordination, as well as supporting the team. This position requires independent judgment, effective and respectful communication with patients, ability to conduct detailed evaluation in a short period of time and documenting it in Epic chart, ability to prioritize needs, skillful team membership, and expertise to provide nursing care and education. The Psychiatric Nurse in this position will provide care to children and adults.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable

• Licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse (RN) in the State of Oregon.

• Must meet the definition for a QMHP as established by the Mental Health and Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO).

Definition and to qualify as a QMHP for this position: A ”Qualified Mental Health Professional" (QMHP) means a licensed registered nurse meeting the following minimum qualifications as authorized by the Local Mental Health Authority or designee: Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing and licensed by the State of Oregon.

• Must possess and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate

• Must successfully pass the credentialing process

• Experience in positions that require accurate assessments for patient care and treatment

• Experience in conducting psychiatric assessments and documenting in concise timely manner

• Experience, knowledge and commitment to serving a diverse population and promoting equity, diversity and inclusion

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Experience in positions that require handling a wide range of situations and circumstances effectively, positively and professionally

• Experience working in Electronic Health Record, preferably Epic

• Experience in working with high case loads (hundreds)

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferable Skills:*

• Experience working in a behavioral health clinic or similar facility

• At least one (1) or more years of general Registered Nurse (RN) experience

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both Spanish and English

• Fluency in working in Epic, Word, Excel and other programs

• Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check

• Driving is necessary for County business. For position(s) with occasional/incidental driving, incumbents must possess a valid driver's license. TYPICAL TASKS

• Educates clients regarding medication risks and benefits based on prescribers' assessments. Coordinates communications between prescribers and other agencies, screens and directs patients' phone calls, assists with medication refills and paperwork.

• Conducts and documents intake psychiatric evaluations and reassessments for patients. Functions in a QMHP capacity. Assists prescribers with ordering diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests; developing and implementing treatment plans; makes referrals to other health care providers and social service agencies. Documents according to clinic policies.

• Participates in clinic operations and quality assurance activities; evaluates and recommends improvements to health care services; assists in the formation and review of clinical protocols, policies and procedures; participates in continuing education and in-service training.

• Provides consultations to other service providers, group homes, schools and community groups on behavioral health care issues; develops and presents education materials.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Thorough knowledge of: Principles, methods, and procedures of nursing as applied to health practice; illness and other disabling conditions; sociological, psychological, and physical problems involved in public health nursing; principles of mental health.

Working knowledge of: Community resources available for assistance in public health programs and other pertinent social services programs; current trends and concepts relative to professional nursing practice; office equipment, including personal computers and software programs.

Skill to: Under general direction implement nursing activities in an assigned district, program, or clinic; work effectively with individuals and families to assist them in satisfactory solution of health problems; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, and the general public; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including preparation of clear and concise records and reports; recognize social problems which affect physical and mental health, and assist in securing adjustments or solutions; provide high quality nursing care; plan and coordinate the activities of other individuals who will provide care in the absence of the Community Health Nurse; instruct in the prevention of diseases, promotion of health and nursing care of an ill or injured person; operate computer software and other office equipment.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. *Flexible 10 hour days and/or 32 hours work week are an option.

This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the and based on the Department's business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.
