Job Description

Our team is working with a growing, private-equity backed company in a multi-billion dollar industry; this company operates several retail brands and has a strong national presence. With the growth they have accomplished and all that is on the horizon, they are now seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate office in the Greater Chicago Area!

Responsibilities:

• Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank, credit card and other billing statements.
• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and files.
• Assist with the month-end close (adjusting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.)
• Perform monthly account analysis and reconciliations.
• Research and analyze expense variances for company management.
• Assist with the annual audit process including preparing the draft of the financial statements and related notes.
• Assist with establishing, modifying, documenting, and coordinating the implementation of accounting control procedures/processes.
• Assist other departments and collaborate with cross-functional teams”

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience in lieu of education
• 3+ years of professional accounting experience including substantial exposure to monthly closing processes,
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines.
• An analytical mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills; Expert spreadsheet abilities
• Knowledge of accounting systems; experience with Sage Intacct a plus
• Ability to work with confidential information with maturity and integrity.
• Ability to thrive in fact-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.
