Position Overview:
Edgesource is seeking an experienced  VMWare Engineer in support of the Department of State (DOS) as a part of the Vanguard 2.2.1 contract. The person in this role will be responsible for the development of Virtualization solutions utilizing VMWare and Cloud technologies. They will research, analyze, evaluate and integrate as necessary new and emerging technologies in order to find ways to deliver a superior IT environment to the bureaus in a cost effective and secure manner. Additionally, they will support the continuing goal of incorporating these innovative technologies into the Department’s equipment modernization program. This position requires a Top Secret security clearance and that all work be performed full-time / onsite at the client facility in Springfield, VA.

Job Duties: 

• Design, integrate, and deploy VMWare IT solutions
• Provide operational engineering support to enterprise-level solutions using virtual server hosting, backup solutions, off-site data replication and service level storage solutions
• Provision Virtual Machines and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure
• Participate in on-call after-hours support rotation, responding to support calls after-hours/weekends/holidays/shutdowns
• Update system and process documentation and user guides as needed diagrams and SOPs as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Possess an active Top Secret security clearance
• VMWare and vSphere design, integration and deployment
• Knowledge or Training on VMware and ESX 6.0+ deployment, configuration, and maintenance
• Experience leading system integration projects as the technical lead
• Experience working with customers to capture/document requirements

Desired Qualifications (NOT REQUIRED):

• Cloud technologies with an emphasis on Azure or Amazon Web Services
• Active Directory experience, particularly in a large environment
• Strong scripting skills
• NetApp storage administration and operation experience
• LAN/WAN networking experience
• CommVault integration and administration experience
• Ability to apply ITIL v3 Foundation concepts within the workplace
• Understanding of DOS processes
